Participating in the Presidential Classroom Future World Leaders Summit 2005
“Hallo meine Name ist José Guillermo Montoyo-Rosario. Ich bin 20 Jahre alt.” Hi my name is José Guillermo Montoyo-Rosario. I am 20 years old. This semester I started my third year (of five) in my field of study, Industrial Biotechnology, offered by the University of Puerto Rico-Mayagüez Campus. The purpose of this blog is to offer an inside view of the investigation I have started as a selected undergraduate student in the BioMinds Program sponsered by the University of Puerto Rico and AMGEN. My mentor is Professor Carlos Ríos Velázquez, PhD and the general title for my investigation is “Using functional genomics approaches to develop biomarkers”. My interest in the BioMinds Program came because my goal is to obtain a PhD in Human Genetics and Molecular Biology. My career goal is to work in a research labortory in Northern Europe, specifically Germany or Switzerland. For this reason I have begun to take German and plan to visit the nations very soon. The BioMinds Program will provide me the preparation and experience to obtain my future career and personal goals.
