J. Another round!

This semester has proven more difficult than planned. In spite of the difficulties presented the project has been carried out. Another round of biopanning was carried out but the eluted phages didn’t lyse the host culture. The reason is not known still. To verify, another second round of biopanning will be carried out. This will confirm if the eluted phages of the second round don’t lyse the host culture or if there was an error in the previous round carried out. After this a third final round is to be carried out and the amplification and sequencing of the phages genome to identify the biomarker. The other second round of the biopanning is underway so the progress up till know has been of 50% (3 out of 5).

The importance of this project is focused on the biomedical area. The target for this project is widely recognized and studied in the medical sector. This biomarker will definitely help the medical sector by giving a useful tool to this sector.
